A return to this old Too Fat Lardies scenario for Sharp Practice, originally written for version 1 which we have adapted for version 2. Ian has the Mutineers and I have the British.
The British need to rescue supplies and ammunition from the old arsenal in the centre of town. As it the festival of Kylie, the hope is that the Sepoy Mutineer garrison will be smaller in number and less attentive.
Here comes Lt. Jarce with two groups of Loyal Sepoys heading for the arsenal main gate
But they are spotted straight away by the sentry who fires a warning shot
The garrison "stands to" and grab their weapons
Jarce continues running with his men
They kill the sentry but the big doors are slammed shut before they can get in !
Captain Flashman now arrives with three groups of British infantry and they run to catch up with Jarce's men
Here's Ian surveying the table from his lofty position !
It gets worse - Ram Dittin, the Sepoy leader emerges from the town gateway with a group of Mutineers and they shoot at Jarce's men in the flank
There are now three men down and shock is doubled from flank fire
And even worse - Badmashes appear by the bazaar and add their fire against Jarce and his men
They are forced back with excess shock, thus hitting their morale
More Mutineers arrive in the north east of town
Oh what joy ! Two large groups of Mutineers appear behind Flashman's men and shoot them at close range causing casualties and double shock
Despite the efforts of the NCOs to recover the situation, the enemy get a bonus go and fire again causing more chaos
The Badmashes advance from the bazaar
The arsenal garrison, satisfied that the gates are secure, now climb the steps to the rooftop so they can add their fire too
Mutineers wherever you look !
Flashman decides to charge the enemy leader's group at the gateway - and manages to get himself killed in the process !
Ram Dittin and his surviving men retire but his other groups keep up their fire on the British
They just keep coming
There's shooting coming from all directions and the British are trapped - and their leader is dead
They fall back again and again, each time hitting their morale
Al Murray the local tavern keeper wonders what all the noise is about (luckily his place is in the north of town away from all the fighting)
The bodies are piling up and British morale crashes to zero - game over.
We've played this a couple of times over the years but never had a game like this where the British couldn't even get into the arsenal and all the enemy arrived early and shot them to bits. That plus Flashman's doomed charge just about sums it up.
That's the beauty of Sharp Practice - no two games the same !
Blimey! What a carve-up! Yes, we all have games like that, where it all goes south from the get-go. Better luck next time.
