American War of Independence Battle.

I've set up Board No.2 with a Sharp Practice AWI scenario, taken from the Too Fat Lardies 2012 Summer Special.  The British forces German mercenaries have retaken a "fleche" after some fierce fighting and they are now expecting an American counter attack.

View from the British end where British troops line the walls on the outskirts of town. The Germans can be seen on the hill in the centre of the battlefield.

The Americans are massing to retake the "fleche".

Battle report to follow at a later date.

The War Room : Shelves

I've had a request to show the shelves of troops in my War Room.  Well, its actually two rooms ; one where the battles take place and the other a painting/construction/store room.

It is the latter where the shelves are.  When the rooms were built in the attic, I thought I had enough shelf space to display my complete collection - wrong !!!

Planes, ships, tanks, WWI & WWII stuff are still hidden away in cupboards and boxes and only see the light of day when needed to fight.  Oh well, it is better than it was ...

These are Seven Years War/Lace Wars with ACW on the bottom shelf.

A slightly closer view of the same

More Seven Years War with Renaissance types below being sorted out for a game of Condottiere

A closer look at these.

Here's a closer shot of them.

A Mixed bag here : AWI, Indian Mutiny & French Imperial Guard plus Artillery.

Any excuse to show the elephants !

Deadman's Gulch.

I've got an urge to return to Legends of The Wild West which we've not played for some time.  Also, I never made enough buildings for the town so with this sputy of enthusiasm, knocked up out of hardboard and coffee stirrer sticks a Hotel-cum-Saloon and an Undertaker's.

Here are some pics taken of Deadman's Gulch ...

Hopefully, this will develop into a game soon with Steve Clarke taking the part of the Sherrif and his men against my Desparadoes.

Cattle Raid !

Aelfroth and his men have nicked some Romano-British cattle and sheep.

SAXONS GO TO CHURCH

This was our take on the raid scenario where Aelfroth's men are seeking loot from the church.

On this occasion, Nick Speller provided the Romano-British with his beautifully painted late Roman force.

The Saxons got a head start and one group of warriors was tasked with heading straight for the church whilst the rest took on all-comers.

Here's a good shot of the Romano-British shieldwall against a less formal Saxon attacking formation

The dice never lie - its 6s and 5s we are looking for for kills.

The little red dice mark shock on the units

It was an emphatic victory for Aelfroth and the church was plundered.  In the background you can see the Fate Cards dealt to the RBs - these can be used to influence the game in various ways.
