Infamy Infamy - - a Roman foraging party

Steve and I fought this one over Zoom today. Steve had the Barbarians and I the Romans.

 The Roman raiders will arrive top left, Barbarians have five ambush/deployment points after the patrol phase.

 First on, the Roman Centurion orders forward the two groups of Legion Recruits in column, skirmishers deploy on the hill and Legionaries in line just right of the hill 

Barbarian skirmishers emerge from the woods and shoot a Roman !

 As the first of the Recruits get to a homestead, the Barbarian chieftain with three groups of warriors burst out of the woods and ambush them

They have gained some "fervour" with their charge

but the Roman heavy armour gives them a lot of protection - two die but the barbarians are hit bad 

Both sides fall back 

Roman Allied cavalry now tries to assist

they hurl javelins at the barbarians

but more barbarians charge fro the woods opposite forcing the cavalry to evade away from the fighting

Now the barbarian chieftain charges his men in against the two groups of Recruits

The barbarians "bounce" again but the first group of Recruits have fallen back with excess shock.

Th barbarians send forward a group to tackle the remaining Recruits

At last the Centurian arrives with his well trained legionaries, they chuck pilum and then charge

the barbarians are feeling the effects !

casualties and shock accumulate on them

The legionaries had already chased off the two groups of barbarians that had threatened the cavalry and now with the chieftain's men and leaders getting battered, their morale plunges down to zero.

An interesting game and we look forward to trying another scenario via Zoom soon.
